Team Introductions: Tara Kalnitsky

By One River School

Tell us a little bit about you and your background Hello! My name is Tara and I have been creating art using every medium I could get my hands on since childhood. I graduated from Rutgers with a degree in Painting and Ceramics but found a passion for illustration markers and polymer clay recently. I have worked in the customer service sphere since college and am always drawn to jobs that marry art, sales and teaching.    What attracted you to work at ORS? By One River School

Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Studio Art and double minors in Art History and Digital Art. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working two fulfilling roles, one as an art teacher and the other as a creative assistant. While I love both, teaching art is where my heart is. I believe that providing a safe and supportive environment for artistic expression is essential in any educational space, and that’s exactly what ORS excels at.   How would you describe what it is like to teach here? It’s so much fun! I work alongside…

I love to make art because it allows my imagination to come outside of my brain. I can’t wait to continue creating and further develop my art in the future! Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why? One of my favorite projects so far was the surrealist watercolor paintings that were in the student show. I am very happy with how my piece turned out and I had lots of fun painting all the details on the tongue and teeth. I also really like how my chalk pastel  portrait of a hairless cat turned out. It was fun to use chalk pastels because I had never tried them before. Describe One…
