Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I graduated from Manhattanville University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication/Media and Marketing. I’m passionate about storytelling and service; my fulfillment is dedicating my career to providing experience and developing interpersonal connections.    What attracted you to work at One River School? One River is an inclusive community that strives to provide higher education and careers in the arts.   How would you describe your team? Art Focus®: Cartooning (Grades 3-5) Architects of the Future Overview: Students learn about “Architect of the Future / The Fortune Teller” by artist Chitra Ganesh. Students create a character who can see into the future. This character can be based on an important person in their life. Students create 3 panels in their artwork to depict this powerful character inspired by a person that inspires them. Tell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist. When I was younger I was really interested in drawing anime characters but I would get frustrated because I didn’t understand anatomy. My drawings didn’t turn out how I wanted them to look. I focused on drawing realism and taking drawing classes instead. And I was good at it! Now I mix realism and anime into my own style – I can take things from my imagination and draw it how I want it. I can play with my style, making original characters, and I love using lots of colors.    Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why? Tell us a little bit about your journey as a developing artist. I learned about oils when I was in high school, and that’s when I started painting on my own. Then I started taking classes with a professional artist through the 70s. Then life happened and I stopped painting for myself, but I advocated for art for children in the state. Arts advocacy became my passion, and I was lucky enough that I was recognized as a spokesperson in the state for arts advocacy. It wasn’t until my mom passed I decided I needed to take care of myself and make my art again. And I was looking around and discovered One River, and it fit my needs.
