Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I started in web development and client support over 12 years ago at a small NYC marketing firm as a stop gap position between retail and that elusive tenure track teaching gig. My skills developed through that position allowed me to bring my talents to One River over two years ago, supporting a mission I’m passionate about, unlike urban residential rental real estate. I hold a BFA in sculpture from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MFA in studio art from Stony Brook University. Read MoreTell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist. My dad and grandpa are both in the art industry, but I do it because I enjoy it. At school I’m already ahead in my school art classes. I wouldn’t be able to try digital art or oil painting if it wasn’t for One River. Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why? Probably any oil painting project – it’s definitely my favorite. I also enjoy animation a lot, so when we get to do those in digital classes that’s a lot of fun as well. I do remember my first oil painting was in the TAS+ class. Read MoreTell us a little bit about you and your background. I’m an illustrator, writer and fantasy/sci-fi enthusiast who moved to Chicago nearly four years ago from the east coast! Originally I came here for college, but the amazing restaurants and art community had no trouble convincing me to stay post-graduation. My undergraduate concentration at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago was in print-media and comics, which I intend to continue for grad school. Classroom studios and libraries have always felt like safe spaces to develop stories, and I hope to provide that space for the next generation of comic artists.
