Tell us a little bit about you and your background. My name is Emily and I have been at One River Montclair since May 2024. I have always been artistic, but it took me a while to find a career that felt like the BEST fit. When I first read the description for the ADOM position at Montclair, I thought this was too good to be true! Fast forward to today, and every week seems like a new challenge and adventure. I remember Matt saying this position would take me at least 2 years to feel at home in, and he wasn’t wrong! Read MoreTell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist. I started making art during quarantine. I began with character design, which is still one of my favorite things to do. I focused on drawing figures as a way to process emotions. In 2022 I started classes here and at school in order to improve faster. I wanted to work on developing the skills that I needed to become a real artist. In addition to One River classes I am taking HS Excel Art and AP Art to gather as many skills as I can to build a portfolio. Kevin obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Art Education (Teacher K-12) and is currently doing his Master’s (MSED) at Queens College. He was inspired to teach by his high school ESL teachers, who helped him grow to be a great student and demonstrated that teachers are a necessary tool to help students do better in the future. Kevin is experienced with various mediums and specializes in mixed media and digital art. Kevin loves painting, drawing anime characters, and digital portraits in his free time.
