Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I grew up in Ossining, New York and discovered my love of art at age 13 when I was a freshman in high school. I got a BFA in Painting at Washington University in St. Louis, and then ended up going to Japan to teach English. I thought I was going for only one year, but it turned into almost ten! I spent my free time there learning Japanese, traveling, painting, singing karaoke, hiking, going to hot springs, and writing songs to sing live with my indie rock band, which I started with some fellow expat coworkers. It was unarguably tough to start up the engine, but that’s the most important part of it: The beginning.  …

Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I’m a multimedia artist with a background in painting but an interest in all kinds of materials and methods of art making! I received a Fine Arts Degree from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2020 and have been making art my whole life. Much of my inspiration is taken from my obsession with film and horror movies, general nostalgia and childhood ephemera, and my personal interactions with different spaces – the city I live in, the environment I come from, new places I venture to, etc. I like to work from a place of simply loving to create – my art is typically unplanned, sometimes entirely happenstance, and always evolving in form.   What attracted you to work at One River School? I was interested in working at One River first and foremost because I love working with kids…
