Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I was born and raised in New Jersey and am the proud daughter of a Colombian mother and Costa Rican father. My culture played a big role in my upbringing, and because my parents never had the opportunity to practice or learn about art in their own lives, I ironically didn’t know much about art at all until I got to college. I was hooked from the first time I ever stepped foot in a museum as part of a class requirement when I was a freshman, and ended up double majoring in International Studies and Art History in undergrad and studying Museology in graduate school. Prior to working at One River, I worked at the Morris Museum and had a few odd jobs – (paralegal was definitely the weirdest) – but always knew I wanted to be somewhere that…

Once I accepted that I had a lot more fun and grew a lot more as an artist as well.   Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why? There was a self-portrait project once using mirrors. I usually only draw from photos so it was nice to work form a live reference. It challenged me and broadened my skill set.   How would you describe One River to your friends? One River Art Classes are less like a class and more like advice. It’s not too structured, so…

Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I work with a lot of mediums but primarily painting. Creating is essential to my ability to function, so I’m always working on something/learning something new! Drawing (pen and ink, colored pencil, graphite), embroidery, digital art, video, and as of late stained glass are some of the mediums I’m most drawn to. The majority of my work in the past couple of years has been murals. Some themes in my artwork through the years are humor, whimsy, and joy. I love to bring joy to people with the goal of making art that is accessible to everyone, especially those who think they don’t know anything about art.   What attracted you to work at One River School? I started off as an intern in 2018. I had always thought I wanted to be an art teacher since I was small,…
