Tell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist.

I use to give the teachers a lot of push back and I didn’t like constructive criticism because I thought I knew everything. I soon realized I don’t know everything and that I should listen to the expertise of my teachers. Once I accepted that I had a lot more fun and grew a lot more as an artist as well.

Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why?

There was a self-portrait project once using mirrors. I usually only draw from photos so it was nice to work form a live reference. It challenged me and broadened my skill set.

How would you describe One River to your friends?

One River Art Classes are less like a class and more like advice. It’s not too structured, so you can still be creative, but you still get a lot of constructive feedback.

What would you tell people who’ve never dabbled in art making are the real benefits to trying it?

Making art helps release your emotions and makes you feel productive and accomplished.
