  Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I have always loved art and remember drawing even as a small child. I vividly remember being young and watching Star Wars with my dad and trying to draw every spaceship as accurately as I could. When I decided to pursue art in school, I was interested in old renaissance painting techniques and wanted to be classically trained like the old masters. I studied painting in both my bachelors and master’s degree. Although I love all mediums in art, oil painting will always hold a special place in my heart.     Tell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist. I had always had an affinity for art; my aunt was an artist and would always encourage me to create. Yet, I first fell in love with photography thanks to the photography class here at One River. My mom had enrolled me in class after having just moved here from Brazil and I needed to get out the house. From then on I just became even more consumed by different parts of art, then enrolling in the portfolio class to expand my artistic skill and body of work. Educator Showcase: Nicole DeBarberie

Tell us a little bit about you and your background. Hi there! I’m Nicole, an artist, mama, wife, and music lover. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in NYC with a concentration on illustration and art therapy. I also earned my master’s degree and teaching certification at the Monmouth University School of Education. I have taught students of all ages in public school as well as private venues. As an artist and illustrator, I thoroughly enjoy working with ink, pastel, watercolor, and mixed media.
