Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I received my BFA in Illustration at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia. Since 2017, I have been arts educator and freelance artist. I love playing with all mediums in art but often find myself working digitally on illustrations and short animations. A lot of my personal work delves into themes of memory, home, and identity. I like to approach these topics with humor and sensitivity. What attracted you to work at One River School? Something that struck me most upon discovering One River School was seeing the resources available to the students and teachers – both in the studio arts department and digital. Originally before I started my art was bad, when I first started I didn’t take classes as seriously, it was just something fun to do on the weekdays. Once I hit high school I started to take classes more seriously and listen to advice from Mrs.Julia. Once I did that my art started to really improve. Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why? Probably the Nicholas Party projects, I like how bright you can get the pastels. I feel like I have a lot of freedom within the project to explore. There were some restrictions but I felt like I had a lot of freedom with both the still life and the portrait project. Spent a short time working in the Dallas film scene in various roles within video production before transition to a career in technology sales. From there I started to realize that my creativity was not being realized in my current environment. I decided then to make a jump back into the world visual arts. In 2013 I started a position as Admissions Director at Mediatech Institute, a Film and Audio School in Dallas, TX. This led me into a great amount of experience in how a passion of art meets a pursuit in education. I attended Rutgers for undergrad with a Visual Arts major at Mason Gross & a Psychology minor. My personal favorite art medium is oil paint & love diving into a painting.
