Educator Showcase: Rachel Eisenberg

Tell us a little bit about you and your background.
I am 23 years old & currently in Graduate school at Caldwell University for Art Therapy. I attended Rutgers for undergrad with a Visual Arts major at Mason Gross & a Psychology minor. My personal favorite art medium is oil paint & love diving into a painting.
What attracted you to work at One River School?
Originally, I heard of One River because my mom’s best friend attends classes here. When telling me of her excellent experience I knew it would be a great place for me to try to join the team & I am so glad I did! I started off as an intern was thrilled when I was asked to start working here after my internship ended!
How would you describe what it is like to teach here?
Teaching here is such a rewarding experience. i love seeing our students grow every class in their artistic journey. It’s a great feeling to be able to guide and support them each week.
What has been your favorite project to teach and why?
My personal favorite project to teach was in a painting class. The students made their very own fantasy scape from a fisheye lens. It was so impressive to see what they came up with along with taking the time to layer the oil paints.
Is there a special One River moment that stands out for you?
A special moment of mine here was when I went from being an intern to working here & being able to teach classes. I went from being taught to being the teacher which was a surreal transformation.
What do you enjoy outside of One River?
Outside of One River I enjoy spending time with my loved ones. I love being in nature and going on hikes or walks. Some of my favorite hobbies are crocheting, painting, and traveling.
