Tell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist. I started in the Summer and made underwater paintings. I kept practicing and became a better artist. Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why? Here’s a bit from my bio: Born in Dallas, TX in 1980, Jonathan embarked on his artistic journey at the University of Pennsylvania in 2002, delving into basic drawing and figure drawing. Seeking rigorous training, he joined the classical realist atelier, Pantura Studios, under masters Hans-Peter Szameit and Sanna Tomac at 22. After nearly four years of intense classical studies, he moved to Dallas, TX, where he developed his body of work while teaching traditional atelier methods. In 2008 Jonathan founded Classical Art Online, pioneering online atelier education. He later expanded his instructional reach to Schoolism, offering the highly successful classes, Essentials of Realism, Understanding Textures. With numerous sold paintings and works featured in collections across the US, Jonathan’s art has been showcased in national and local invitational exhibitions for many years. Read MoreTell us a little bit about you and your background. I grew up on the south shore of Long Island, New York. My adolescence consisted mostly of roller hockey matches in the driveway, soccer tournaments and the beach. I was drawn to art at an early age and remember watching my mother make jewelry and my father create shadow boxes in the garage. I was very interested in being creative and participating in sports and dance. I eventually became enamored with painting and wanted to make a difference so I pursued a BFA in Art & Visual Culture Education at the University of Arizona, as well as a Graduate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at ASU.
