Tell us a little bit about you and your background. My name is Tabitha, I recently graduated from Stony Brook with my degree in Studio Art and Creative Writing. I’ve always had a passion for creating in all forms. I think the idea of getting something out of your head and getting it onto paper, morphing it into clay, or designing it digitally is where magic happens. What attracted you to work at One River School? My love for art. How would you describe what it is like to teach here? It has become a very fulfilling artistic adventure. What has been your favorite project to teach and why? We recently covered a project focused on redesigning popular cartoon characters. Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I received a BA in Art History from American University in Washington, DC in 2016 and I decided to come back to Bergen County, NJ where I grew up after graduating. I started at One River as the Assistant Director opening our second location in Allendale and I moved to a corporate role in 2019. What attracted you to work at One River School? It’s funny because I responded to a job posting that did not disclose the name of the business but was looking for candidates passionate about art education. Tell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist. I have practiced and worked really hard to be where I am now artistically. Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why? Botanical Collage – it was fun and I enjoyed experimenting with different styles & mediums. Describe One River in 3 words and tell us why. Fun, creative, and accepting – because of the overall environment and community What would you tell people who’ve never dabbled in art making are the real benefits to trying it?
