Tell us a little bit about you and your background.

My name is Tabitha, I recently graduated from Stony Brook with my degree in Studio Art and Creative Writing. I’ve always had a passion for creating in all forms. I think the idea of getting something out of your head and getting it onto paper, morphing it into clay, or designing it digitally is where magic happens.

What attracted you to work at One River School?

My love for art.

How would you describe what it is like to teach here?

It has become a very fulfilling artistic adventure.

What has been your favorite project to teach and why?

We recently covered a project focused on redesigning popular cartoon characters. The students really enjoyed the concept of reimagining already beloved characters and adding their own stylizations. It was fun seeing their own artistic renderings happening in real time.

Is there a special One River moment that stands out for you?

At the end of every week during the summer camps, seeing all the parents come and support their kids creations. Surrounding them with love and excitement over their love for the arts was very emotional and heartwarming.

What do you enjoy outside of One River?

I enjoy eating delicious food, writing and making art in my spare time.
