About the artist

Cameron Welch is an American artist who was born in 1990.  He currently has a solo exhibition "MONOLITH" at the Nino Mier Gallery in Los Angeles and his work has been featured in several galleries including Rental Gallery and Greenacre Avenue.

His work has earned praise for creating a modern-day mythology through the use of discarded and often nostalgic items, such as CDs, together with various paints and styles. Welch's work establishes gestalt through a myriad of materials, processes, and images. The surface of each work crafted out of mosaic tile with each piece cut from a larger block to form individual lines and forms throughout the work. The process speaks to both a specific art historical referent as well as an inherent kitsch.

Cameron Welch has been featured in articles for the ArtDaily, the Forbes and the H A P P E N I N G. The most recent article is Phillips New York Celebrates Black Excellence in Fine Art written for the HYPEBEAST in February 2019.

He received his MFA from Columbia University in 2016 and his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013.
