Tell us a little bit about you and your background.

I am an art instructor and concept artist for animation.

Tell us a bit about your role at One River

I am instructor and a product manager.  I am part of the educational board and help to build curriculum and provide resources for instructors to aid them  in class. I am also in charge of making sure our digital labs and digital education plans are up to date. 

What attracted you to work at One River School?

I’m very passionate about art education. One River offers the opportunity for me to share my skills with so many different people and to build community through art.

How would you describe your team?

Intelligent, Innovative and Creative 

What do you think we do best at One River?

Develop a solid relationship with students and the community and build them up to be able to accomplish their artist goals. 

Is there a special One River moment that stands out for you?

My favorite moment recently was with a student that was struggling with some concepts and tools in the digital lab. By working closely with him I was able to build up his confidence  and got a really beautiful result at the end of the last project. It was a breakthrough that has allowed him to flourish in all of the new projects we’re now working on. I’ve been working with this particular student for a long time. It’s very special to see him work past his perfectionism and focus more on the process of creating.

Who or what motivates you?

I am motivated by so many things – by a dear professor in college to be more curious. The world is vast and there is so much to learn.  Art can branch out into so many other life skills, informs that way we understand the world. That has become my philosophy when teaching and motivates me to inspire curiosity in the younger generation.

What do you enjoy outside of One River?

Hiking with my wife and dog, watching any and all films. Reading.
