This Moment in Time Feels Like Chaos
I feel obligated to share a couple of thoughts about what is happening in our country, but I also want to lean on something personal that could be important. In no way can I minimize how complex and overwhelming things are today. Yet, my personal perspective is that we really do have to remind ourselves that humans are complex species and our behavior is not always going to be in alignment with what we expect or want to occur, even when it feels like chaos.
When I wrote my book GROW or FOLD, I reflected on the arc of my life and the strangeness of growing up in the 60s and 70s, when chaos was living on every corner of American life. And this chance to reflect on where we’ve come from and where we got to, was also woven by looking at the world that my parents grew up in: born in the depression era and World War II when they were teenagers.
So, when I try to make heads or tails about things, I also try to think about what I can do for the people in my world to help them? Today I am certain that the work we are doing at One River School is helping people of all ages to do their best to step out of the darkness, while providing some respite, safety and normalcy that just might help us move from one day to the next.
My purpose is to be positive and to help people find their magic and creative inspiration. And my goal today was just to share some thoughts that might help you move through this week with a little more pep in your step and to think about investing your time in doing creative things, with people you like.
