Tell us a little bit about you and your background.

I’m a figurative painter interested in how life and culture shape the way we see and create. I studied at Parsons School of Design and the New York Academy of Art, where I built a strong foundation in painting and drawing. My work focuses on everyday experiences and relationships, capturing moments that feel both personal and universal. As an instructor at One River School, I encourage students to see painting and making art as ways to explore ideas, develop skills, and connect more deeply with the world around them.

What attracted you to work at One River School?

I was drawn to One River School because of its focus on creativity, community, and contemporary art education. I appreciate that the school encourages both strong technical development and personal expression, creating an environment where students can grow as artists at any level. The emphasis on experimentation and process aligns closely with my own approach to painting and teaching, where discovery and curiosity are central to learning.

How would you describe what it is like to teach the adult program here?

Teaching the adult program here is really rewarding. The students are curious and motivated, and I love helping them explore their own process while building confidence with their art making. Each class has a great energy, and it’s exciting to watch everyone develop and take risks over the course of the class.

Is there a special One River moment with your adult students that stands out for you?

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching my adult students is seeing them as part of an exhibition. Being included in a show is a real milestone—it’s a chance for them to share their work, celebrate their progress, and gain confidence in their creative voice. Experiences like these, along with museum visits and lunch outings, help build a strong sense of community in the class.

What do you enjoy outside of One River?

Outside of One River, I spend most of my time in my studio painting. It’s where I explore my ideas and continue to grow and develop my work as an artist.
