The Struggling Artist No More
It is amazing how things have changed. Now that we live in a world where visual content is crucial in all aspects of business and life, artists and creative types are benefiting dramatically. The argument that Science & Math rule and Artmaking is not a required skill has been debunked. Still, most schools don’t provide the necessary resources so that all kids can be challenged in the most meaningful creative ways.
It has been almost 20 years since I became the CEO of School of Rock when it was a start up business. And, for the last 11 years I put my heart into building One River School. Along the way, I have encountered thousands and thousands of students who became more well-rounded, better problem solvers and more innovative thinkers by applying themselves to music and art. From Kids to Adults.
Today, the cliché of “struggling artist” just simply doesn’t apply anymore. Thoughtful, growing smart, creative, adaptive, problem-solver…all of these adjectives are just some of the themes that have replaced it.
