Two River Has Come a Long Way Too
Don’t be confused by the title above because in September 2013, we presented an exhibition entitled “Two River” that featured five female artists from Brooklyn. At the time, we wanted to share with our community some of the most compelling female emerging artists from Brooklyn (located two rivers away from our first location in Englewood New Jersey—hence the name of the exhibition).
As part of this exhibition, we presented work from Mira Dancy. Her paintings are hypnotic, colorful and have a spiritual feeling, while celebrating the female figure. This past week I was in Los Angeles and had a chance to see this beautiful painting pictured here and others at her current exhibition at the Night Gallery. Take a look here.
Over the last ten years, Mira and so many other artists who we featured during our first decade at One River have gone on to great success in the artworld that has included museum exhibitions, global visibility and major collector support. I urge all of you to think about supporting emerging artists and investing more time into engaging with and collecting art. In fact, each of our schools have compelling shows you should see today.
To me it’s like great food, great wine and great music… compelling art just makes me feel better. And, when I see an artist like Mira go on to do great things, it makes me proud as well!
