Nicole Eisenman is Making Art for the Soul

MT 5-23-22

Every once in a while, you see or hear something that stops you in your tracks.   No, I’m not talking about politics… I’m talking about the arts.  Think about the first time you heard a song that stuck with you forever.  Or, a performance by an actor in a movie or play.  Well, the other day it happened for me again.

I went to see Nicole Eisenman’s exhibition at Hauser and Wirth gallery in New York and I had that jaw dropping experience.  Check it out.  The exhibition which included painting and sculpture was amazing and the variation across the work truly demonstrates Nicole’s range.  This is simply one of the best exhibitions I’ve ever seen.

Let’s be clear, for the first 50 years of my life, music was my passion and no other art form could reach into my head and heart like a well performed song.  However, I am proof that the human animal evolves:-).  Today, I am so intrigued when the subtlety of visual art can move me in the same way that sound or moving images can do so.

And when it comes to Nicole Eisenman, it seems like there’s a magic trick involved.
