Earlier this year we opened our first school in the Portland, Oregon area. When we opened, I sent my team to help launch the business and last week I finally made it there in person! Lake Oswego, OR is a bucolic suburb “one river” south of Portland and our franchise partner, David Kabaker, has built an incredible facility and team that truly stands out in the community.
When I started to think about franchising One River, I was convinced that we would be able to find the right people and the right locations to pursue my goal to “transform art education”. After meeting our current team in Lake Oswego I walked away even more convinced that we can make this happen. All the students that I met, from Adults, to Teens and Kids, were raving about One River and the experience they were having. And the photography exhibition by Peter Kitchell is one of the best installations we have done yet! Seeing it happening first hand adds a whole new level of excitement for me.
What makes this franchise program even more exciting is we are giving people a chance to invest in a new career and new lifestyle. Often it happens in the middle of their careers when they feel stuck and are looking for something new. We are so thrilled to be developing schools with some really great people and we remain interested in talking to others across the country that share our vision for building a compelling place to teach art & design and enhance their community.
