Winter Blues

I have a love / hate relationship with winter.  On one hand, I love to ski, love to watch football, love to make a fire and chill at home, love to eat some comfort food and really love the change of seasons that winter puts the icing on (nice pun huh?).  But, when I really break it down, I don’t get to ski that much, the lack of sun makes me crazy, I have a harder time getting out of bed and flat out just enjoy spring, summer and fall better!

So, what do I do about it?  I have developed a recipe of things that help me grind through winter.  First of all, I always think that if I am really productive now, I can rationalize that extra round on the golf course later.  I also tell myself that this is the time for me to invest in myself…gym, learning, going to the movies or just plain chilling at home.  BTW: we just launched an adult art class for “pure beginners”…. A perfect place if you are motivated and want to start with basics.

Another great thing winter does for me is it really does allow me to put summer on a pedestal.  Summer rocks!…that is the bottom line.  How would we know if we didn’t have cold, grey, dull winter?  Think of all those poor suffering fools on boats in Miami or hanging out in La Jolla all year long!  Ha!  Who has it better, us or them?

Well, before you know it spring will be here with summer on the back end.  And to celebrate our first summer at One River we will be launching our Summer Camps.  We have been working to build a comprehensive program of half day and whole day experiences that we will be ready to share in the next week or so.  Email me here if you want me to send you some info.

And, bring in some comfort food when you have a chance because the winter blues are playing a mighty strong tune.
