The Art Of A Home
Art exhibits are not all made equal. Sounds simple, right? Picasso at the Met is very different than going to a little gallery in Cape Cod.
Last week we hosted an amazing fundraiser that I was so proud to have been part of. The United Way of Bergen County is in the middle of a project to raise $32 Million to build housing for almost 200 adults with developmental disabilities. They have already raised $22 Million and I know that we made a dent last week in the outstanding need.
What does this have to do with an art exhibit? Click on this link and see for yourself. The event was called “Art of the Home” and our lobby was decorated with photographs and descriptions of the project and community of people it will serve. At the end of the night the team from United Way was about to take it down and I said noooo! How often do you get to blend your creative intuition with something so meaningful and share it publicly. And, it looks awesome.
So, for the next few weeks we will leave our lobby looking like a third gallery room at One River to celebrate this program. When you come in, check it out and grab some info that sits nearby. 8,000 disabled adults sit on a waiting list in NJ alone. Maybe you can help…maybe the United Way can help you or someone you know. Let me know if I can connect the dots or just talk about the “art” with you.
