Gratitude

Gratitude.  Thanksgiving.  They obviously go together and I want to start this by thanking our new community of friends and advocates for supporting us and helping us get the word out.  I also want to wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Every year that ticks by I try harder and harder to consciously think about how precious life is and the things I am grateful for.  It is thrilling for me to see people walking into OneRiver with a look of wonder on their face.  The notion that we are doing something cool and relevant is truly exciting.

The older I get the more I struggle with how fast time moves.  We built this place over the summer and I was so focused on opening around Labor Day.  In a blink we are now focused on the holidays, our first student art show, the new year, launching Sunday classes, new digital programs and working on a summer camp program for next year.  Whew…can’t we just slow things down for a minute!  The answer is no…our passion is about making this place the best it can be.

Another passion of mine is teaching.  Yes, I teach…not art…adult continuing education.  My first class begins on the 28th and it is “Online Media and Marketing”.  If you have any interest in a nicely structured broad overview of all the moving parts in online marketing then this is for you.  In the future this class will also be part of a certificate program that we will rollout next year in Online Marketing.  I am excited to share some of my knowledge in the space…if you are interested click here.  This will not be a snoozefest…promise.

Later this week we will be sending out more info about the upcoming student exhibition.  It has really started to take shape where our teachers and students are identifying work they have done and starting new projects with the goal of showing at Art Effect from 12/28-1/6.

As always, let me know what you are thinking and anyway we can be better.   Again, I wish you and your family a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.
