The Largest Teen Art Exhibition in America
As we move from May to June, there is something incredibly exciting on the horizon that I want to share with you. Next month we will be installing the largest teen art exhibition in America, and I am so proud of the work our students and our teachers are doing creating these compelling artworks.
Students were invited to respond to a single prompt—a place that matters to you—inspired by the work of contemporary painter Daniel Heidkamp. The result is 1,800 original works spanning painting, drawing, mixed media, animation, and digital design! Structured to mirror the professional art world, the exhibition moves student work beyond the classroom into a public presentation. “This exhibition reflects something incredibly special about the way teenagers see the world,” said Agnes Mauro, CEO One River School. “As AI continues to reshape how we live and work, the ability to think creatively and express original ideas has never been more important.”
I took an interest in Daniel’s work almost 15 years ago, and included him in an early exhibition at One River School. Since then, he has shown his work on the global stage and I think he is one of the most compelling painters today. Given the magnitude of this event, we are starting to get some incredible press as well and you’re going to read and hear a lot more about this. In fact, the interest in our One River School franchise program is through the roof as more people think about the need for a One River School across the country.
Transforming Art Education ® is something we offer AND it is embodied in our mission.
We have 1800 objects and teen students that will testify on this next month.
