Tell us a little bit about you and your background.

Growing up in Hudson Valley NY, I have always been a lover of all things outdoors, which was only more nourished by studying Fine Arts in college at Keene State in New Hampshire. Post-college I found myself with a nonlinear path, from bartending to ski lift operations, which to some may be unsettling, but to me was unsurprising. I have always let myself go where life takes me, picking up skills along the way. This explorative nature translates into my art practice as well. I enjoy keeping things light & playful – letting things happen, working through mistakes, & enjoying the process. As such a free-spirit I found myself truly surprised to love working behind the computer as much as I do now 🙂

What attracted you to work at One River School?

I say to nearly every new member or tour I chat with – I wish I had something like One River when I was younger. I am so proud to work for a school dedicated to kids, teens, & adults who are interested in creating art & to provide the space for them to do so.

How would you describe your team?

We always comment on how we have a “hive-mind”. We work hard to support each other, we often find ourselves discussing plans & foreseeing what the other may need.

What do you think we do best at One River?

I think we do a great job at being a human business. Creating meaningful connections with our members & students. Truly caring for each person who comes into our studios, nurturing their artistic development, and more.

Is there a special One River moment, ideally related to our adult program or an adult student, that stands out for you?

There have been so many moments shared with my previous adult students! I truly valued the connections & bonds they shared within each other & with me. I loved encouraging them to feel more confident in themselves & their abilities. 

Although I don’t teach classes anymore, I get to see their artistry develop. To me it is not one moment, but the experience I had with them overall that stands out. 

Who or what motivates you?

I am deeply motivated by the amazing people in my life. I am eternally grateful to have been raised with such a loving family, for my close friends, and my ever supportive partner. They all keep me motivated to be a good person & have a good heart as my mom always said 🙂

What do you enjoy outside of One River?

Outside of work, I love being outdoors, keeping up with my yoga practice, skiing in the winter, taking photos wherever I go, discovering new music, & of course spending quality time with my loved ones 🙂
