Katherine Bradford
There are very few artists in the world today that inspire me more than Katherine Bradford. I first met Katherine over a decade ago after stumbling upon her interesting and idiosyncratic paintings that often-featured faceless swimmers, other worldly landscapes, Superman, and some of the coolest imagery I have ever seen. Very simply, her artwork connected with me; it was mysterious, beautiful, and playful at the same time.
The painting that you see above was one of the earliest artworks that I bought, and it hung in my home for years as I was building One River School and trying to figure out which emerging artists to support and how I could do my best to provide patronage. Every day I stared at this painting, and it inspired me to keep going as we were trying to validate our concept and prove that we could build a transformative art education experience.
So, what happened? Over the next decade Katherine became one of the most sought-after artists in the world and One River School became the most compelling art school in the communities within which we operate! I have so much respect for what it takes to be successful as a contemporary artist, and I wanted to share a link to Katherine’s upcoming exhibition that opens in New York in less than two weeks. Check out the work online or in person and you will learn firsthand why so many people have fallen in love with it.
