Art for Autism: “The Sun Shines on Everyone”

April is Autism Awareness month and this cause is quite personal to me because I am the parent of a 27-year-old with profound Autism.

The young lady you see pictured with me is Hannah Rose Weissman, an instructor at our school in Allendale. Hannah painted this extraordinary mural titled “The Sun Shines on Everyone” and it is permanently installed in the brand-new facility for the Reed Academy, one of the premier centers for Autism education in the state.

This June I have decided to “go the distance for autism” and I will be walking to raise money for Reed and to support kids and Adults with Autism…click here if you would like to support them.

Matt Ross is the Founder of One River School of Art + Design. Since 2012, One River has grown from one location in Englewood, NJ to fifteen schools in six states with a goal to “transform art education” across America. Prior to One River School, Matt was the CEO of School of Rock, where he built the company into the world leader in music education for kids. Prior to his experience with School of Rock, Matt held a variety of management positions in broadcasting, working for diverse media companies such as Clear Channel, CBS and Viacom. He is also active in promoting Autism awareness and supporting emerging artists and is passionate about collecting Contemporary Art with a focus on painting, mixed media and drawing.
