Team Showcase: Julie Witkowski

Tell us a little bit about you and your background.
I graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. Since graduating, I have worked as a public school Ceramics/Visual Arts teacher and did window displays for Anthropologie. I specialize in textural and sculptural elements in painting. I am largely into the live music & arts scene. Since I was a little girl, my parents have been taking me to shows. After graduating college, I began to take my painting to live shows and even work live with the creative community.
What attracted you to work at One River School?
Our approach at educating the fine arts and every single person that dedicates their time to making our schools so successful. I am so thankful that I found my place with One River.
What do you think we do best at One River?
Community! We also thrive at collaborating as a team.
Is there a special One River moment that stands out for you?
My four adult students just finished their paintings, and on their own, walked around and complimented each other and had their own discussion that continued on into well after class. They were using terms and pointing out different aspects in each other’s paintings that they had no idea what they were on their first day in class. It was a really cool moment for me to be able to impact these women artistically!
What do you enjoy outside of One River?
Being with my dog, live music, motorcycles, and surfing.
