Since there are so many things being debated right now, I’d like to add something fresh to the agenda: Mother’s Day becomes Mothers Week!!!

First, who would argue with me on this one?  Plain and simple, life begins and ends with Mom!  And to make things more profound, today would be my Mom Elaine Ross’ 89th birthday (she passed during Covid, may she rest in heaven).

Yes, I was a mama’s boy…without my mom, I would have not had the ambition and positive nature that I learned to tap into as I grew up. In general, the unyielding support and love that we all receive from our mothers gets hard wired into our souls. Every mom who has ever walked into our schools has shared a belief in their kids and a commitment to helping them learn and grow. It takes that strength and sometimes that extra push to make sure that “the kid in all of us” stays the course; artmaking and life are not always easy, but you have to persevere through the project.

So, to all the One River Moms and the moms of the world, I raise my glass and toast you today, this week and forever. Keep doing what only a mom can do…spread your love so your kids can thrive, make mistakes and remain supported.
