Tell us a little bit about you and your background.

As a creative educator and visual artist I have a diverse background that combines a passion for teaching with a creative flair. I have been teaching in a classroom setting for over 10 years and running my own art business for 20. I specialize in acrylic painting and I’m always searching for new materials and ideas.

What attracted you to work at One River School?

I was attracted to work at One River School because it provides a highly creative and inspiring environment. Our studio is filled with art supplies, tools and resources that fosters artistic expression. Working here fuels my own creativity and provides a space where you can really explore your artistic ideas freely.

How would you describe what it is like to teach here?

What I love about teaching at One River is seeing small ideas turn into big creative projects. The students are surprised and thrilled by their own creativity.

What has been your favorite project to teach and why?

My favorite project so far has been The Teen Focus on Drawing Skeletal Narratives. I loved learning about both featured artists and bringing their style into the project. Each of my students really dug deep to find something that represented themselves.

Is there a special One River moment that stands out for you?

My favorite moments are in the K-2 classes. Each time we finish a project the students are so happy with what they have made. The looks on their faces are priceless.

What do you enjoy outside of One River?

Outside of my One River teaching position, I own my art business painting custom pet portraits. I have three children, two in college, UTD and TTU and one graduated from CSU. I spend my free time hanging out with my husband and two dogs.
