Project Snapshot – Intertwined Entities
Art Focus®: Drawing
Intertwined Entities
Grades 3-5
Overview: Students learned to establish texture for form through inking, and how to convey nature realistically.
Students learned about essential fundamentals in drawing, including creating a balanced composition and using inking techniques to convey nature realistically. They also learned how to incorporate elements of symbolism as a tool for creating a narrative.
Artist Inspiration: Lauren Marx
I love how students were able to create drawings using common subject matter like animals, flora & fauna, and elevate them by creating a more meaningful narrative. The notes of symbolism in the relationships between the animals and other natural elements make each drawing much more interesting to observe and interpret. The project also allowed students to hone in on important drawing techniques using hatching and cross-hatching to create gradients and shadows.
