Collecting Art Today

Screen Shot 2021-12-13 at 3.13.45 PM

There was a time when art collecting was only relevant for a very small percentage of the world’s population. But today more people are actively engaged with collecting Contemporary Art for a number of compelling reasons.  Never before has there been such an abundant commercial marketplace for living artists and as a result, investments in art are more liquid than ever before.

I live by the axiom: “do well by doing good” and it is this phrase that drove me to build One River School and to support emerging artists as both art collector and advocate. Every year we produce numerous exhibitions from artists who are showing their work domestically and globally and most of the time, they are still somewhat early in their career, and as a result their artwork is quite affordable.

Go check out the artwork at your local school… you will appreciate the quality and uniqueness.  The image above demonstrates just a few of the objects in our current exhibition at One River School Hartsdale, New York from artists John O’Connor and Domenico Zindato.  Both of them are mid-career artists who happen to also have work in important museum collections.

Have you ever thought about art collecting? You should. The stock market is at an all-time peak, housing is at an all-time peak and it’s important to diversify. I am happy to chat with you about this and the dual value: you get to live with and own precious works of art that will also grow in value over time.
