I captured this photo last night as the sunset was creating a constantly changing, kaleidoscopic picture of the sky. I was watching TV and when I saw what was happening out of the corner of my eye, I sprang off my couch and ran outside with no jacket as if I was a kid joining my friends for a little more fun before I had to go to bed!
Every day during the last nine months, I have looked at the sunset from the rear of my house and thought to myself “you made it through another day”. Like most of us, I have been spending a disproportionate amount of time working from home and battling the lack of social engagement, variety, flexibility and everything else that we took for granted pre Covid.
As the sun sets on a horrendously challenging and complex year, I look at this picture and can’t help but think that the fiery imagery is in effect a solid reflection of what has occurred. However, I don’t want to get stuck there. I am trying to channel a feeling of optimism.
Things won’t be completely different on January 1st, but I am suggesting we reset our thoughts on the rising sun of tomorrow.
