Art Making in a Quarantined World
While everything about the COVID-19 world we are living is incomprehensibly challenging, how you use your time and manage your spirit is of the utmost importance. For some, it means throwing their heart and soul into the studio to eat up the hours with creative work.
JJ Manford shared the new painting above that is inspired by his time in the Hudson Valley over the last two months. The artwork he created was among many new works that allowed him to reflect on the moment. Look at the dog…he looks like he is longing to be outside…just like all of us. I love this painting and it makes me feel safe and relaxed at a time when there is such a premium on spending my time on looking at things that make me feel good.
I am certain that we will all be back to our frantic and busy lives at some point soon. Take a minute to think about what you can spend some quiet time on and how you can use this solitude to create something special. It could be a great drawing, painting or maybe something you want to write. I’m accelerating writing a book that I have been working on for two years.
