This March we open our 10th location in Woodbury, NY, our first location on Long Island in the heart of northern Nassau County. Sometime this spring we will open a second location in Suffolk County as well, in the quaint town of Port Jefferson. I am so excited to bring our concept to Long Island since I am a native of the place and have a special fondness for it.
Well, I am sort of a native. I actually grew up in Queens, and based on how we have come to understand Long Island I am technically not from there. But, when you look at the physical map you will see that this beautiful, and one of a kind place extends 118 miles eastward from New York Harbor to Montauk Point and is the longest and the largest island in the contiguous United States. It is also “one river” from NYC!
When we started One River, our first school in Englewood was simply “one river west” from New York City and I was trying to capture something that felt culturally different for suburbia. Now we are opening “one river east” of New York City and Long Island is so going to be home for even more schools in the next few years. The community there is searching for fun and compelling art and design education and our beautiful and convenient locations will provide a unique service in the market.
