There’s an Art Movement Happening
I am feeling like we are at the beginning stages of an art movement and that One River School can be a catalyst in this movement. People are desperate to get out from behind their computers. They are begging for real, communal experiences. And they are interested in Art, but are embarrassed to say they don’t understand it very well and don’t know where to go to begin to learn it.
We fill that void. We teach it in our classrooms and we present it credibly by staging exhibitions from emerging artists. Quite often, I am proud to share work from artists who have gone on to establish important careers in the artworld. In fact, Shara Hughes, whose artwork we showed last month, just got picked up by one of my favorite galleries Rachel Uffner Gallery and Shara is prominently featured in the September issue of Vogue.
I love to bring people together. I love it even more when people are learning about art and artists. When people are making new friends and tapping into something new, that makes me happiest.
And it’s not just for kids people! Teens and Kids are joining us like crazy and will continue to do so. It’s for us…Adults who need to chill out and tap into another side of our brain. This is relaxing and it builds new muscles.
Skip one workout and come work your brain out.
