Career Path
February 3, 2014
It may be obvious that the career path of a professional artist is more difficult than most. It requires skill, commitment, perseverance, luck, and finding people who believe in you. One of my purest goals with One River was to provide a professional stepping stone for exceptional emerging artists by showcasing their work and opening up discussions around it.This Friday we present our second solo exhibition to date. An opening reception for Mesh Point, an exhibition of work by Jay Gaskill, will take place this Friday, February 7th, from 6-8pm. Jay creates unique forms and brilliant color arrangements, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail in every work. The result is an aesthetic that is set apart from what you see today in the art world.
We are moving through a period in which there is redundancy among the abstract art you find in galleries around New York. For me, as a collector and curator, it is so important to identify work that sets itself in contrast to the trend. When you see it you know it. Jay is onto something fantastically different and I urge you to come check it out.
