Zappa There & Here

Last week I celebrated Halloween by doing something that used to be an annual routine for me.  I attended a concert in NYC titled: Zappa Plays Zappa.  For those of you who know me well, I am a Frank Zappa freak and I saw him play live 30 times.  To me, Zappa’s music is the highest form of contemporary music, blending rock, jazz, orchestral and avant-garde with some comedy and theater.  Nowadays, Frank’s son Dweezil carries the torch and has formed a band of the most impressive players you will find anywhere.

You may not know this but Zappa is coming to Englewood…at our very own Bergen PAC in February.  Tonight, Englewood is gonna be rocking Elvis Costello at the PAC!  It is so easy to take things for granted, but we have this gem in our community—a world class performing art center that is prepared to put on over 200 events in 2014.  Check out their calendar of events…there is something for everyone.
A few years ago I had the honor of joining the Board of Trustees at the Bergen PAC.  The center is the cultural cord for our community: a non profit organization with an amazing Performing Arts School that teaches theater, dance and music.  I urge you to attend some shows, visit the school and raise a flag for a special institution right here within our community.  And, if ya wanna talk a little Zappa, I’m down for that too 🙂
