Competition
Nowadays if you watch TV everything is a competition.  Baking, fashion, hair styling, cooking, diving, dancing, singing and of course, weight loss.  Pick a topic…it’s probably on the horizon.  Seemingly every network has tried to capitalize on every possible angle to create drama through competition.

Guess what: we are getting in the game!  No, we are not launching a TV show and there will be no drama.  Very simply, we have reached out to five local high schools covering about 25% of Bergen County to create a really cool competition of the best artwork made this year.  And this is going to be an annual event.

I am so proud to give local teens a chance to share their work with the world at One River Gallery.  The exhibition, titled Art Effect: High School Competition, will be held on May 31st.  Our jurors are faculty members at Yale and Princeton and they will select the best work by school and an overall best in show. Ivy League in the house!

In a noisy, wired world, visual art is actually a blessing.  My goal is to share more diverse presentations in the gallery while we teach the latest techniques and concepts in our school.   Teen artists from our community…it doesn’t get any better. Mark your calendars and come check it out.
