Not sure if I can say anything about Prince that hasn’t been said before, but I thought I would add a little something since reflecting on artists is at the core of Monday Thoughts. And, Lord knows Prince was the artist’s artist!

When you play like Hendrix, write like Lennon and perform like James Brown, there aren’t many more things you have to say. But, Prince could sing falsetto like Michael Jackson and sing baritone like Ike Turner. He could make videos like Madonna, do movies like Elvis and throwdown some funk like Rick James!

Let’s reverse this discussion. Who reminds you of Prince? No one. He may be the most innovative musician of our day and like most things in life, we may not appreciate his impact until after he’s gone.

I saw Prince four times in concert…each show was different and among the best concerts I ever saw. One time at the Fox Theater in Atlanta in ’96, I was in the front row and got selected to jump on stage and hung right next to him while he was jamming! I will cherish that moment and everything this guy brought to the world. Purple reigns!
