Stretch Yourself
How do you measure how well you are doing? Ah, a simple question that leaves you wondering. The truth is, when you evaluate the quality of your contributions in life, there are many filters. For me, I think about how good I am at being: a husband, a father, an entrepreneur, a mentor, a friend, a golfer and so on. I also think about my fitness, my moral compass and other things that help define me and allow me to reflect on the way I live and the decisions I make.
One thing that rarely comes up for most people is how creative they are? Even more importantly, how growing their creative skills can make them more successful at everything that they do. I recently read an article in Inc. that offered 10 simple things to do daily to improve your creative skills and generate better outcomes in life…check it out.
The same path today leads to the same results today. Want different outcomes with your boss, your husband, your kids…think differently. Once you begin to evaluate how to look at things differently you will develop a whole new set of tools to deal with the world. If you really want to develop new ways of thinking, prioritize DOING creative things. It hard wires new ways of approaching challenges and gives you the patience and skills to succeed.
