Team Showcase: Victoria Losa
Tell us a little bit about you and your background.
I am a graduate of Rutgers Business School with a degree in Marketing. Originally focusing my creativity through the mediums of ceramics and photography, I, now, am a practicing writer. I have been working in and adjacent to the education sector for 7 years. I aim to create a space for blossoming artists to flourish while developing a sense of community at One River by providing exceptional customer care. Additionally, she is thrilled to help her students express themselves through many mediums.

What attracted you to work at One River School?
One River’s clear community in and out of the classroom connects artists of all ages and experience. Working alongside fellow creatives has been such a wonderful experience. I feel like I have truly found my own community and friends with the teachers and administrative teams at One River.
How would you describe your team?
My team is incredibly close knit, fun, and energetic. We welcome everyone who walks through One River’s doors with a smile! I have found that if our students see the team being friends, they feel a stronger sense of community and feel more comfortable.
What do you think we do best at One River?
One River prides itself on its contemporary curriculum and it delivers! I have heard countless times from parents how much they appreciate that we stay away from ‘crafty’ projects and are teaching our students technical artistic skill that is applicable to the working artist today.
Is there a special One River moment that stands out for you?
One of my first days working at One River School of Art + Design in Clark, a highschool student came to the front of our lobby, pulled up a chair in front of my desk and opened a book. “What class are you in? I can guide you to the room” I asked the student, not yet familiar with student names or schedules, “I’m not here for class, I do my homework here sometimes after school,” it was my first experience with how deep the community at One River truly runs.
Who or what motivates you?
The students motivate me! My favorite part of the day is 4pm when the kids art shuffle students start making their way to class. I love hearing about their projects, their weeks and being the place where they feel they can be themselves!
What do you enjoy outside of One River?
Outside of One River, I am an avid reader and writer- often performing my pieces at open mic nights or at poetry events. I play tennis with my friends and family and in the spring and summer I am constantly looking for new trails and hikes for my puppy, Boomer, and I. I love any and all music events. Whether its a jazz night or a stadium concert, I am there!
