Student Showcase: Nina
Tell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist.
My dad and grandpa are both in the art industry, but I do it because I enjoy it. At school I’m already ahead in my school art classes. I wouldn’t be able to try digital art or oil painting if it wasn’t for One River.
Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why?
Probably any oil painting project – it’s definitely my favorite. I also enjoy animation a lot, so when we get to do those in digital classes that’s a lot of fun as well. I do remember my first oil painting was in the TAS+ class. At first it was difficult to get into because of the process, but now I love it.
Describe One River in 3 words and tell us why.
Open, creative, welcoming — it’s very open because I’ve seen people with different skill levels in the same class and everyone can work together, and the teachers are all so nice!
What would you tell people who’ve never dabbled in art making are the real benefits to trying it?
You might find something you really love. You don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it.
What do you enjoy most or feel is helpful about taking more than 1 class at One River?
I love the Portfolio class because I can try out new things. But in TAS+ we also do things I wouldn’t normally choose or get to do, such as stamp carving.
