As we grow, One River is focused on becoming the "best place to work in the arts" and also providing business ownership opportunities in the arts via our franchise program.
MATT ROSS
FOUNDER
ABOUT MATT
Over the last 20 years, Matt Ross has built two of the most innovative consumer education brands in the world, while establishing himself as an innovative entrepreneur who combined his passion for growth and creativity to achieve substantial personal and professional success.
Since 2012, he has been the Founder and CEO of One River School, a company whose mission is to "Transform Art Education” in America. Prior to One River School, Mr. Ross was the CEO of School of Rock, where he led the company from an early-stage venture into the world leader in music education for kids.
Matt holds an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at NYU and is a Cum Laude graduate in Marketing from SUNY Albany. He is also a former member of the board of trustees for Art 21 and the Bergen Performing Art Center. Matt and his wife Susan reside in Cresskill, NJ and recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

Agnes Mauro is an innovative leader and passionate advocate for art education, guiding One River School of Art & Design into an exciting new era of expansion as the Chief Executive Officer. With an extensive background in fine art, art history, art education, and business development, she is dedicated to making high-quality art and design programs accessible to students of all ages and communities across the nation.
Agnes joined One River School in 2012, collaborating with Founder Matt Ross to launch its first flagship location in Englewood, NJ. In the early days, she played a pivotal role in developing the prototypical school model, identifying key talent, products, and educational methods to create a unique and engaging experience for students. This groundwork led to the creation of “The One River Method,” a distinctive approach that empowers franchise operators with a clear blueprint for building a successful art education business in their community. To date, Agnes has overseen the opening of 15 One River School locations across five states, providing franchise partners with comprehensive tools, training and curriculum developed over a decade, ensuring a turnkey operation.
With a proven track record of strategic growth and operational excellence, Agnes has spearheaded initiatives that have significantly boosted student enrollment, expanded summer programs, and enhanced student retention. Her commitment to teaching through the lens of living artists ensures that One River remains at the forefront of art education. As the company embarks on its franchising journey, Agnes envisions a network of passionate partners dedicated to nurturing artistic talent and enriching local communities.
Agnes Mauro holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Master of Business Administration from Montclair State University. She firmly believes in the transformative power of art to inspire and build community, and she is devoted to creating environments where creativity can flourish. As One River School of Art & Design takes this exciting step forward, Agnes Mauro remains steadfast in her mission to revolutionize art education and empower individuals through art, inspiring the next generation of artists.

ANGELA SHIN
ABOUT ANGELA
As an experienced art educator, Angela Shin joined One River School in 2015 where she taught classes and led the education program developing curriculum and training content for other educators and managers.
After her experience as instructor, Assistant Director, and Director of Education, Angela grew into the Director role managing the company's flagship school in Englewood, NJ and second location in Allendale, NJ. Angela's experience and knowledge across multiple roles and positions in the company allowed her to grow into her current role as VP of Operations.
Angela oversees the company-owned locations and works directly with each school manager to drive the business across enrollment, front-of-house experience, customer service, hospitality, personnel recruitment & management, and more.
Angela Shin graduated from Drew University with a degree in fine arts and art history. She then went on to pursue a career in art education, and graduated with a MAT in art education from Montclair State University.

ERIN CHAMPION
ABOUT ERIN
Erin Champion graduated from Mansfield University with a degree in Art Education, and from Marywood University with a Master’s in Fine Arts with a concentration in Printmaking. The combination of these two degrees led her to teach for many years at the collegiate level, while also exhibiting her own art around the world. She joined One River School in 2019, as the opening Director of our Millburn, NJ location. As Director, she leveraged her teaching knowledge in the classrooms, and helped with the development of new projects and new class types.
Her experience in both operations and education has led her to her current role of Vice President of Education, where she works directly with each school to drive our innovative educational programs, member experience, retention, teacher training, and implement the best curriculum across classes, summer camps, and our myriad of other programs.
Erin’s passion for education, and commitment to growing the love of art in each and every student and teacher at One River, has her excited to continue to grow with the company for years to come.

PATRICIA MCCABE
ABOUT PATRICIA
Patty McCabe is a strategic marketing leader with a proven track record of driving brand growth, customer engagement, and business performance across national and franchise-based organizations. Known for blending analytical rigor with creative storytelling, she brings deep expertise in brand strategy, demand generation, and multi-channel marketing to build brands that resonate with modern consumers.
She has held senior marketing roles across diverse industries, including leading national and local marketing strategy at Huntington Learning Center, where she oversaw brand initiatives, performance marketing programs, and franchisee growth efforts to strengthen positioning and drive enrollment. Earlier in her career, Patty developed expertise in brand management and integrated marketing at Benjamin Moore and AT&T. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a Master’s degree in Communication Arts from Marywood University and is passionate about building brands that create meaningful, lasting impact.

ABOUT MAEVE
Maeve is a dedicated Special Assistant with a focus on analytics, marketing, customer relationship management (CRM), and operational support at One River School. With a deep passion for the arts and a commitment to analytical excellence, Maeve plays a key role in managing the school's marketing strategies and providing data-driven insights on the performance of marketing campaigns, sales achievements, and operational efficiencies. Known for her organizational skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and proactive approach, Maeve has supported One River School for over 8 years, continually improving the school's internal processes.
Maeve received a BA in Art History from American University in 2016. In her free time, Maeve enjoys traveling, visiting museums, and running 5Ks.

Viviana Maciel
ABOUT VIVIANA
Viviana Maciel graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art with a concentration in Studio Art. She specializes in drawing and sculpture, and uses both to explore the range of human emotions. A passion for guiding others in refining their craft led her to begin her teaching journey over 15 years ago. Viviana loves working at One River because she is able to push her students to become better artists while also empowering them to be and discover their true selves.

SARAH RINALDI
ABOUT SARAH
Sarah holds a BFA in Art Education from Manhattanville College and an MFA from the College of New Rochelle, where she studied a range of mediums including printmaking, sculpture, and watercolor. She began her career as an intern in the education department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and later spent eight years as Children’s Programming Director at Citibabes in SoHo, where she developed and led a wide range of arts-based classes and creative programming for families.
She later served as Director of a Reggio Emilia–inspired program in Connecticut, designing an art curriculum centered on the study of fine artists, materials, and techniques. For the past four years, Sarah has led One River School Westport as Director, growing the program, building community partnerships, and improving operational systems. She now serves as Regional Director, supporting Westchester and Connecticut locations while continuing her own artistic practice inspired by nature, primarily in watercolor and printmaking.

JOHN SAHIN
ABOUT JOHN
John Sahin graduated from MTM College of Animation, Art & Design in Toronto, Canada with a B.A. in Animation. He specializes in Concept Art and Background Design for the animation and video game industries. John has worked on various projects in Toronto’s animation industry, ranging from small indie projects to wide release TV shows. As a visual development supervisor, concept artist, and teacher John values grounded, well-researched work inspired by imagination and the natural world. His teaching philosophy is based on building his students’ understanding of the real world in order to produce dynamic new designs. He strives to teach students that realistic foundations and research are the seeds through which high quality designs are born, no matter how fantastical the end result.

ALISHA HOLZMAN
ABOUT ALISHA
Alisha is the Web Support Specialist with One River School, assisting schools in website and technology operations. Alisha developed her marketing and web support skills over 10 years working with a boutique advertising firm specializing in urban residential real estate. In 2022 her professional skills were married with her passion for art, allowing her to provide top level support to One River’s schools. She strives to manage and enhance One River’s technology suite enabling schools to focus less on day to day tech operations and more on providing the best art education experiences for their students.
Alisha holds a Master of Fine Arts in studio art from Stony Brook University. In her free time, Alisha maintains her professional art practice, volunteers with Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, and enjoys fostering her daughter’s budding love of art.
