Vibrant Painterly Landscapes

Overview: Students learn the principles of composing a landscape, then utilize abstract painting techniques to add vibrancy & richness. Students will think about the way painters use color, texture, and technique to create images that inspire emotion.

Essential Skills: Students create an acrylic painting which uses non-local color and exaggerated features to create an unrealistic landscape. Students experiment with a tactile approach to painting, via applying paint thickly to build up layers of texture.
