Tell us a little bit about your journey as a young and developing artist.

I have been drawing and creating art since I could hold a pencil! I started to take it more seriously when I turned 12 though. I wanted to attend One River since some of my friends starting coming here, and I have been here ever since!

Which has been your favorite project to work on at One River and why?

There have been so many! One that comes to mind was a pen project where I made an octopus with plants/vines coming out of it! And the Momento-Mori project was really fun too! I used a skull and bugs as my references and I enjoyed the composition and all the values in it!

How would you describe One River to your friends?

At One River you not only learn specific techniques, but you learn about contemporary artists and it gives you different projects to do and pushes you out of your comfort zone by working with a lot of new materials you would not really get to work with at home. It is really great being able to talk with fellow classmates and artists!

What would you tell people who’ve never dabbled in art making are the real benefits to trying it?

It is really fun to make art! You can experiment with a lot of different art mediums and learn how to use them.
