The Tree
I love this photo for so many reasons.
As a lifelong New Yorker, the beginning of winter and the holiday season almost always coincides with the installation of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. From the time I was a child and right through today, I still get a special feeling when I see the majesty of New York represented via the unfurling of the tree, set within the magical setting of Rockefeller Center.
I spent last Saturday walking around Manhattan all day and couldn’t help but think that for the first time in three years, we are not stuck in the middle of a pandemic living our lives in a dark cloud. As a result, we can get back to our roots and the things that drive our happiness and our growth.
After watching that tree get stood up in place, I walked to the west side and downtown and over to the east side and allowed myself to appreciate the beauty of New York. And, I kept looking at this photo to remind me that our future is dependent on us to appreciate in real time the things that make our lives special.
