One of the special things about building One River School is the chance to create great career opportunities in the arts, while also teaching people how to build a compelling business that stands out from the crowd. Funding for the arts is struggling, and as a result there is a declining number of jobs that provide real growth potential in the space. One River is filling that void in a very serious way.
By the end of this year, our network of schools will employee over 200 full and part-time employees. We hire educators, artists and business talent to deliver our service and support our system. While our jobs are fantastic, there are also other cool things about working at One River. First of all, we have built a culture that simply makes it the most fun place to work. Secondly, our people grow their skills and are prepared to be leaders in the space over time.
The most important thing I can do is to “find the best people who care the most”. Then, we need to continue to create a dynamic place to work, that not only invests in them, but rewards their performance. Inevitably, we are celebrating artists and art-making at One River, but the truth is, we do it by really investing in and deeply caring about our people.
This is our greatest commitment.
