Monday Thoughts: Noise

The other day I was staring at the word “unwire,” and I began to fantasize about what that meant.  The notion of rest and relaxation seems so different today and with my Dick Tracy device in my palm all the time, I literally feel like there is a wire plugged directly into me. Everyone I talk to feels the same way, the human brain took millions of years to get where we are, but the new way of communicating, working and living has been hoisted on us in a nano second. It is having a profound effect on people, both positively and negatively.

I often write Monday Thoughts about what I believe we are all going through or thinking about.  It is often beyond the art-making and the One River tangible experience. Sometimes I get to the “why” people make art, and there is no doubt that when you are creating something, solving a problem, painting or drawing or building, you are FULLY engaged; your brain, body and breathing are in sync, “disconnected” from the flow of information that swirls around the universe via the internet.

More and more adults are coming to One River to explore their interest in art-making. As we open schools across the country, I believe we can have a profound effect on people and their quality of life.  The antidote to stress is to prioritize the things that simply make you feel better.  Art-making does that , and it builds new pathways in your brain that allow you to think differently and improve your mental health as you age.  I don’t mean to add a task, but, let me know how you “unwire”.
